There are so many amazing people that for one reason or another are not able to engage in opportunities for all kinds of physical activity. Together, inspire interest, be active and support opportunities for others to be active.
Inspired with the vision and legacy of Allan Andrews, all donations and funds raised go to improve access to physical activity and help relieve financial and other barriers to participation.
Physical activity has many health benefits. The Canadian Medical Association acknowledges that regular physical activity is associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, some types of cancer, diabetes, obesity, hypertension, bone and joint disease, and depression.
The Canadian Medical Association recommends the goal of at least 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) per day for children and youth aged 5 to 17, and 150 minutes per week for adults.
Launching soon is the Dream Big Physical Activity Subsidy Award Program supporting community projects that help improve access to physical activity for the general public and underserved populations. In May this year we launched the Living Active Webinar Series.
